Annual Events

Please check our Calendar of Events for the most current activity schedule.
Below is a small sampling of the programs and activites we develop every year.  Additional activities and events not listed below are offered on a consistent basis.

Winter Lecture Series

Every winter Historic London Town and Gardens develops a lecture series around one of our main interpretive themes: History, Horticulture, Archaeology, and Architecture.  We bring in experts from these fields to offer fun and engaging presentaions and discussions for lecture attendees.

Maryland Day

Near the end of every March London Town celebrates Maryland's birthday with our first living history day of the season.  Costumed interpreters, hearth cooking, and educational demonstrations about colonial living bring the site alive for our visitors.

Spring Plant Sale

In late April come to London Town for our ever-popular spring plant sale.  Heirloom vegetables, annuals, perennials, and many other plants can be yours.

Revolutionary London Town

London Town's largest living history day is held in early July to help celebrate America's Declaration of Independence.

Fall Plant Sale

Fall is for planting – especially trees and shrubs – so join us for our popular fall plant sale and take home an unusual camellia or magnolia, a bareroot peony, a London Town-grown perennial, or a seasonal plant from the Melwood Horticultural program. Anne Arundel County Master Gardeners, who help propagate many of the varieties offered, will be on hand to answer questions and assist with plant selection.

Market and Trades Weekend

In early November, colonial craftspeople converge on London Town to practice their respective crafts and teach visitors how well-done hand-made items can be. Additionally, visitors may help with hearth cooking, try on colonial costumes, play games, and take tours of the site.

Native American Cooking

On the Friday after Thanksgiving come to London Town to learn about the foodways of the Chesapeake-area Native Americans. Help participate in a hearth-cooking demonstration.

Wreath & Creative Holiday Workshop and Greens Sale

Take a wreath and/or creative holiday workshop to make decorations for the holiday season. Additional greenery and creative ornaments, made and arranged by London Town’s garden volunteers, is also available for sale.
