People of London Town
The Unknown
Though many London Town inhabitants are known, the majority are not. These include enslaved Africans, indentured and convict servants, day laborers, sailors and mariners, various craftsmen and women, children, and tenants. Just because their names are not known, that does not mean their collective story can not be told. Their presence and contributions to the town, both forced and freely given, is visible in the history of the site through the material culture found by the archaeologists and the historical documents that hint at their presence.

The continual research that is undertaken by the staff and volunteers of both Historic London Town and Gardens and the Anne Arundel County Lost Towns Project is aimed at learning more about the known and the unknown inhabitants of London Town.
