London Town is also a unique and busy educational institution, where children from around the region come to learn about Tidewater Maryland history and horticulture, and to experience colonial living and hands-on archaeology. Adult visitors learn too, from trained docents, lectures and workshops, and frequent public archaeology dig days. Historic London Town and Gardens is a partnership between Anne Arundel County, which owns the site, and the non-profit London Town Foundation, which manages and interprets the site and raises money for its support and development. Nearly two-thirds of the Foundation's annual budget comes from income earned from site rental, grants and contributions, and individual and corporate memberships. London Town's members value its history and its archaeological and horticultural resources. They understand the importance of educating young people in the history and values of the past. And they know that some of the best educational experiences occur outside the formal classroom, in a place like London Town.

Historic London Town and Gardens is a special place -- the National Historic Landmark William Brown House, the lovely four-season woodland garden, the Glass Pavilion overlooking the South River, the reconstructed historic area buildings, and the state's largest archaeological dig are all part of the London Town experience.
